How we work

How we work: the answers to check before you hire any software team

DevX Group LLC is a San Diego software company, registered in California in January 2024. Our engineering team of 30 engineers, designers and project managers brings more than 50 shipped projects, several of them in our portfolio. Every one works under a DevX Group LLC contract. Founder Max Sheikhizadeh leads every engagement. You own your code and accounts, you pay per accepted milestone, and you can speak with past clients before you sign.

  • Code, domain and accounts in your company’s name
  • Paid per accepted milestone, never all upfront
  • NDA first; every engineer under a DevX Group LLC contract
  • Past clients available as references

Who we are

DevX Group LLC is a San Diego software company, registered in California in January 2024. DevX Group LLC was founded by Max Sheikhizadeh, who leads every engagement hands-on. Max has built software since 2007, first through his own web studio, Design by Max, then for 15+ years at Amazon, Qualcomm, Viasat and startups. Our engineering team of 30 engineers, designers and project managers brings more than 50 shipped projects, several of them in our portfolio. Every one works under a DevX Group LLC contract.

Alongside client work we build and sell our own software: Parlin, Parlin Recorder and MailBridge for Mac and iPhone, and Nutrify.AI on the App Store and Google Play. Running our own products is how we keep our engineering standards honest.

Who writes your code

Max leads every engagement hands-on: architecture, code review and the decisions that matter. When a project needs more hands, senior engineers from our team join and report through him, so you always know who is working on your product and you can talk to the person writing the code.

Every engineer on your project works under a DevX Group LLC contract with the same confidentiality and IP terms we sign with you. DevX Group LLC is the one company responsible for the work, end to end.

You own the code, the accounts and the data

We set your product up in your name from day one, so nothing critical ever depends on us.

  • Source code in a repository your company owns; we work in it as invited collaborators.
  • Domain, cloud accounts (AWS, Vercel, Supabase and the like), Apple and Google developer accounts, analytics and payment processors registered to your company.
  • Production data and backups in your accounts.
  • The code, designs and documentation we create for you become yours once the work is paid for, as set out in section 04 of our terms. Our general-purpose tools are licensed to you perpetually for use in your product.
  • Open-source dependencies listed with their licenses at handover.

Payment tied to deliverables

You never pay for a whole project upfront. Rates are $95 to $175 per hour, published on our pricing page.

  • Discovery first: a fixed-fee week that defines the product and produces a written scope, timeline and fixed quote. Half at kickoff, half on delivery, and the output is yours whether or not you continue.
  • Build in milestones, for example prototype, core product, testing and launch. Each milestone has written acceptance criteria and is invoiced when you accept it.
  • Ongoing teams after launch are billed monthly, and you can stop with 30 days notice.

Confidentiality and access to your systems

We sign an NDA before any code, design or business detail changes hands.

  • Engineers get the least access their task needs, through accounts you own and can revoke at any time.
  • Secrets stay in your secret store, never in code or chat.
  • All access is removed at handover, and you get a list of every account and credential.
  • For sensitive data, such as health or legal records, we can build so it never leaves your devices or your own cloud.

Quality, warranty and support

Production-ready means tested, monitored and supported, not just demoed.

  • Working software every two weeks on a preview link you can use.
  • Automated tests on the critical flows, error monitoring from day one, and a security review before launch.
  • 30 days of on-call stabilization after launch, plus a 60-day warranty: defects caused by our code are fixed at no cost.
  • Maintenance and new features afterwards at the same published hourly rates.

If you ever want to stop

Either side can end an engagement with 30 days written notice. Because the code, accounts and data already live in your company’s name, there is nothing to hand back and nothing to hold hostage. You pay for work completed to that date, and we hand over the work in progress, documentation and runbooks so another team, or your own, can continue.

Talk to our clients

After a first call, we connect serious prospects with two or three past clients who hired us for similar work. You can also read client feedback on our site and on Clutch.

If you would rather start small, the discovery week is designed to be a low-risk first engagement: you get a scope, a timeline and a fixed quote, and you decide from there.

The questions to ask any software team

Our answers, in writing. The full legal version is in our terms.

Who will actually write my code?

Founder Max Sheikhizadeh leads every engagement hands-on, and senior engineers from our team join when the scope needs them. Every engineer works under a DevX Group LLC contract and reports through Max, and you can talk directly with the people writing your code.

Will anyone outside DevX Group LLC have access to my code or data?

No. Only engineers working under a DevX Group LLC contract, bound by the same confidentiality and IP terms as our agreement with you, get access, and only the access their task needs, through accounts your company owns and can revoke.

Will my company own the source code, accounts and intellectual property?

Yes. The repository, domain, cloud, app-store, analytics and payment accounts are created in your company’s name from day one, and the code, designs and documentation we create become yours once the work is paid for.

Do I have to pay for the whole project upfront?

No. You start with a fixed-fee discovery week, then each build milestone is invoiced when you accept it against written criteria. Ongoing teams are billed monthly with 30 days notice to stop.

What happens if I end the engagement after six months?

Give 30 days notice. You pay for work completed to that date, and we hand over work in progress, documentation and runbooks. Your code, accounts and data are already in your name, so the transition does not depend on us.

Can I speak with past clients?

Yes. After a first call we connect you with two or three past clients who hired us for similar projects.
