Mobile App Development in San Diego: Flutter and SwiftUI apps that reach the store

DevX Group LLC builds mobile apps for San Diego startups and small teams: cross-platform Flutter for iOS and Android from one codebase, or native SwiftUI when the product is Apple-only. Led by founder Max Sheikhizadeh, priced at $95 to $175 per hour, with a first release including store submission delivered in 4 to 12 weeks.

What we build

Most mobile projects need to decide, on day one, whether they are one app or two. We pick based on the product, not habit: Flutter when Android matters and a shared codebase saves real money, SwiftUI when the product lives entirely inside Apple's ecosystem and native feel is the point.

  • Cross-platform Flutter apps: one Dart codebase shipping to iOS and Android, so a bug fix or new screen lands on both platforms at once instead of twice.
  • Native SwiftUI for iPhone and Mac: when the product is Apple-only, we build with the platform's own UI toolkit instead of a cross-platform layer, for the performance and polish only native gives you.
  • The backend behind the app: authentication, data storage, and an admin dashboard so you can see and manage what the app is doing without opening Xcode.
  • App Store and Google Play submission: screenshots, listing copy, review-guideline checks, and the actual submission, so "done" means live in the store, not a build sitting in TestFlight.

How we keep it honest

Every release runs end-to-end tests on a real simulator with a fresh account before it ships, the same path a first-time user takes. That catches the crash a unit test never sees: a broken sign-up flow, a paywall that does not unlock, a permission prompt that never fires.

We hold a crash-free-session target on every build and check it against each platform's review guidelines before submission, so a rejection is the exception, not the norm. One codebase means one bug fix reaches both platforms the same day, not weeks apart.

Who this is for

Founders who need an idea in the App Store and Play Store without hiring two separate teams, and product teams who already have a web app and need the mobile companion to go with it. If you are in San Diego we can meet in person; most of our clients work with us remotely across US time zones.

What we build with

Named tools, and the reason each one is on the list.

  • Flutter with Riverpod

One codebase for iOS and Android, with state management that scales past a prototype.

  • SwiftUI with async/await

Apple's own UI toolkit and modern concurrency, for apps that are Apple-only by design.

  • Supabase

Auth, database and storage in one place, so the backend ships alongside the app instead of after it.

  • RevenueCat

Subscription billing and entitlement handled once, correct on both the App Store and Play.

  • Sentry

Crash and error reporting from day one, so a bug in production is a ticket, not a guess.

  • TestFlight and Play internal testing

Real devices, real testers, before a build ever reaches the public store.

How an engagement runs

Bi-weekly demos throughout. Code, configs and runbooks are yours at acceptance.

  1. 01Week 1

    Discovery and screen map

We map every screen and decide Flutter or SwiftUI based on the platforms you actually need, before any code is written.

  2. 02Weeks 2 to 6

    Build core flows

Authentication, the main screens, and the backend behind them, shown in a bi-weekly demo so you see working software, not slides.

  3. 03Weeks 6 to 9

    Test and harden

End-to-end tests on real simulators with a fresh account, crash-free targets, and a review-guideline pass before either store sees a build.

  4. 04Weeks 9 to 12

    Store submission and 30-day stabilization

App Store and Play submission, then 30 days of on-call fixes while real users arrive. Code and store accounts are yours at acceptance.

Questions we get asked

How much does it cost to build a mobile app in 2026?

DevX Group LLC bills $95 to $175 per hour depending on the engagement tier, published on our pricing page. A focused first release, core screens plus store submission, usually takes 4 to 12 weeks depending on scope. We quote a fixed price after the week-one screen map so the total is known before build starts.

Should I build in Flutter or native SwiftUI?

If the app needs Android, Flutter is almost always the right call: one codebase, one bug fix reaches both platforms. If the product is Apple-only, Mac and iPhone with deep platform integration, SwiftUI gives you the native feel and performance a cross-platform layer cannot match. We make the call with you in week one based on your actual audience, not a default preference.

Who actually writes the code?

Founder Max Sheikhizadeh leads every engagement and writes the architecture and the code that matters. Our partner studio scales the team when a project needs more hands on a deadline, but there is no anonymous offshore handoff: every engineer on the project reports through the same person you talk to.

What happens if Apple rejects the app during App Store review?

We run a review-guideline check before every submission, so most builds pass on the first try. When Apple does reject one, we read the rejection reason, fix the specific issue, and resubmit, usually within a day or two. This is built into the 30-day stabilization window, not billed as extra work.

Who owns the code and the app store accounts when the project ends?

You do. The App Store and Google Play developer accounts are registered in your name from the start, and the full codebase, with no license restriction, is yours at project acceptance. We hand over the repository, the runbooks, and admin access to every service the app depends on.
