Parlin Website: Marketing Site and Store for the Mac App

The public home for Parlin, our Mac transcription app. Visitors see what it does, watch it in action, buy a license, download the app, and get automatic updates. One site that markets, sells, and delivers.

Project Overview

getparlin.com is where Parlin, our native Mac transcription and dictation app, meets its customers. It is the marketing site, the store, and the update service in one.

The front of the site sells: a clear feature tour, real product screenshots, an FAQ, and pricing built around a single one-time purchase. A visitor who lands here should understand what Parlin does in a few seconds and know exactly what they get for their money.

The back of the site delivers. Checkout runs through Lemon Squeezy and emails a license key the moment a purchase completes. Downloads come straight from the site alongside the Mac App Store, and the app keeps itself current through a Sparkle update feed. All of it reads from one release manifest, so the download link, the update feed, and the signed app can never fall out of sync.

That manifest is checked at build time: bad links, invalid update signatures, duplicate versions, or mismatched release notes fail the build before anything reaches a customer. Analytics stay privacy-first, only aggregate page views, buy clicks, and downloads, never names, order IDs, or license keys.

Key Features

  • Product marketing: feature tour, real screenshots, FAQ, and clear one-time pricing
  • Lemon Squeezy checkout that emails a license key on purchase
  • Direct downloads plus Mac App Store, with automatic Sparkle updates
  • One release manifest keeps the download, the update feed, and the app in sync
  • Build-time release checks: broken links or signatures fail before customers see them
  • Privacy-first analytics: aggregate events only, no customer data

Business Impact

Gives Parlin a real storefront: a place to learn about it, buy it, download it, and stay updated, with no manual steps behind the scenes. Shows DevX building the whole commercial layer around a product, not just the product itself.
