Privacy Policy for Lecture Lab

Lecture Lab is made by DevX Group LLC. This policy covers the Lecture Lab iPhone app.

Your lecture recording never leaves your iPhone. Recording, transcription, playback and search all happen on the device. We do not run any server that receives audio.

Only the text of a lecture's transcript, and only after you agree for that specific lecture, is sent to our server to build a study pack, a podcast, or an answer to a question you ask. You are asked again for every new lecture. Agreeing once does not cover the next one, because a lecture may contain other people's voices or material you would rather keep on your phone.

When you agree, we send:

To build your study pack, podcast and answers, the transcript text is sent to Google's Gemini API. Google processes it as our service provider to generate that content and return it to you.

Lecture Lab uses a paid, billed Gemini API key. Under Google's terms for paid Gemini API services, Google does not use the text we send, or what it sends back, to improve its products. Google may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse and to meet legal requirements, as those terms describe.

Nothing, past answering your request. Our server does not store transcript text, your questions, or the answers after it sends the response back to your phone.

Our logs record only technical details needed to run the service and watch for problems: which endpoint was called, whether it succeeded, which AI model answered, how many tokens it used, how much it cost us, and how long it took. Logs never contain your transcript text, your questions, or your answers. Our logging code is written so there is no field for that content to go into.

If you subscribe to Lecture Lab Pro, Apple handles the payment. We receive your subscription transaction information from Apple to confirm you are subscribed, so the server can unlock study packs, the podcast and Ask. We do not receive your payment details, card number, or Apple ID.

Lecture Lab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app has no account and does not knowingly identify any user's age.

You decide per lecture whether to send its text at all. Recording, transcription and playback work fully without ever agreeing to send anything.
