How it works
Parlin turns speech into text on your Mac, fully offline. Record a meeting and watch the live transcript while Parlin suggests questions worth asking; when you stop, it writes the summary, key points, and action items, ready to export as a formatted PDF or Markdown file. Hold a shortcut to dictate into any app, or drop an audio file or paste a media URL to transcribe it. Speak in one language and get the text in another: pick an output language and dictation translates as you talk, near real-time. Built for Apple Silicon. English dictation runs on NVIDIA Parakeet, about 98% word accuracy on clear speech, transcribed in about a tenth of a second; Whisper covers the other 98 languages, 99 in total. A bundled local LLM handles cleanup and summaries through the Apple MLX framework, fast even on an M1. On a stronger Mac, swap in any local model you like (Qwen, Llama, Gemma, Mistral): because everything runs locally, the app gets better every time your hardware does. Learns your product names with a Developer Dictionary and exports to TXT, SRT, or VTT with word-level timestamps. Audio never leaves the machine.
