Privacy Policy for Jix
Summary
Jix is a native macOS app that listens to your meeting, reads your own documents and answers questions from them. This addendum says exactly what stays on your Mac and what leaves it.
- There is no Jix server. We never receive your audio, your screen or your documents.
- Your microphone and the meeting audio are transcribed on your Mac and are never uploaded.
- Screen text is read on your Mac.
- Your document library is indexed on your Mac.
- Only the text and images you ask a question about go to the model you chose, and you choose that model.
- Jix contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising code.
What Jix processes on your Mac
Jix needs the following data to do its job. None of it leaves your Mac on its own.

Permissions Jix requests
You can revoke any permission at any time in System Settings, under Privacy & Security. macOS permission prompts and recording indicators are left intact.

What leaves your Mac
Three things, and nothing else.
- The question you askedWhen you ask for an answer, Jix sends the model you selected the question, the relevant passages from your library, recent transcript lines, and any screenshot you attached. In ChatGPT mode that request goes to OpenAI through the Codex CLI on your own account, under OpenAI’s privacy policy and your account’s data settings. In local mode it goes to the Ollama service on your own machine, so nothing leaves the Mac at all.
- The license checkJix sends your license key and a hashed device identifier to Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, to confirm the license is valid and to count your activated Macs. Nothing else is sent. Lemon Squeezy handles that data under its own privacy policy.
- The speech model downloadThe first time you turn on English transcription, Jix downloads the NVIDIA Parakeet model files so they can run on your Mac. The download carries no audio and no text.
Jix never reads your ChatGPT login. It runs the Codex CLI against its own configuration directory under ~/Library/Application Support/Jix/Codex, which contains a symbolic link to the credential file macOS already holds. Jix creates that link and never opens it, so your own Codex configuration, servers and memories are never part of a Jix request.
What we do not do
- We do not run a Jix backend that receives your content.
- We do not collect IP addresses or behavioural data.
- We do not save your audio. It is transcribed as it arrives and then discarded.
- We do not sell, share or monetise your data.
- We do not use your meetings or your documents to train any model.
- We do not ship analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting code.
History, export and deletion
Saved history is off until you turn it on. When it is on, Jix stores the text of a session, never the audio and never the screenshots.
You can export a session as Markdown and you can delete any session from the History window. Turning history off stops new sessions being saved; it does not delete the ones already there.
To remove everything Jix holds, drag Jix to the Trash and delete this directory:

Removing a document from your library removes its stored text. A session you saved earlier can still contain passages quoted from it, so delete the session too if you want the text gone.
Sharing your screen
Jix is built so that your notes stay yours while you share your screen. It is hidden from the Dock and the app switcher, and it is left out of screenshots you take yourself.
On 21 September 2026 we shared an entire screen from a Mac with the Jix panel visible, joined the same call from a second device, and confirmed that the panel was absent from what the second device saw. We did that in Google Meet, Zoom and Slack. Those three are the apps we can speak for.
We make no claim about any other app, and none about software auditing the machine itself. Jix runs under its own name and any tool that lists running applications can see it.
Children's privacy
Jix is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and note it in the app’s release notes.
